Advice About Brake Fluid

May we suggest that brake fluid is changed every 2 years as it tends to attract water vapour through the master cylinder filler cap which has a breather in it. This leads to rusting of the cylinders which can be both dangerous and always expensive to sort out.

Recently we have found owners fitting DOT 5 brake fluid as a substitute for DOT 4.

PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS AS THE RUBBER COMPONENTS QUICKLY TURN TO A MUSHY SUBSTANCE AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WILL SIEZE UP.

ALWAYS USE DOT 4 FLUID.
